Sustainable fashion it's characterized by a set of ecologically distinct strategies and attitudes, socially just, culturally diverse and economically competent ideas. Sustainability guarantees to be the alternative to ensure the survival of the planet's natural resources, in the same way, that it allows human beings to develop ecological solutions.
At IndianBelieves, we want to make sure we contribute to a more sustainable world and life. To assure this happens, we build our brand by only associating with certified partners and manufacturers that work and think like us.
Global Recycled Standard
For instance, our sweatshirts manufacturer work with organic cotton and recycled polyester. They use between 7 and 8 PET plastic bottles to produce some of our products. Our producers have the Global Recycled Standard label that certifies that the materials used are 100% recycled. The GRS (Global Recycled Standard) guarantees the fulfillment of social and environmental criteria, as well as the treatment of wastewater, the absence of chemical components and respect for the working conditions of the partner factories.
To ensure the perfect texture and smoothness of the sweatshirts for your skin, they use two layers of organic cotton to ensure that the polyester is never in direct contact with your skin. Organic cotton is a natural fiber that uses less water in its cultivation, and also is free of transgenics.
There is no use of pesticides or other fertilizers, and their crop rotation allows to maintain a healthier soil.
Global Organic Textil Standard
All our partners have the GOTS (Global Organic Textil Standard) certification for textiles made of organic materials.
The GOTS assures not only that the cotton used is GM-free and produced without the use of pesticides, but also certifies the process of dying, where it controls that there is no use of any toxic and harmful substances, prohibits by law. GOTS also guarantees compliance with the international organization's labor standards throughout the production process.
Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX
Trust deserves it it's not earned or guaranteed. And that is why Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX guarantees the absence of toxic and harmful substances in our products, according to the label 'trust in Textiles'. 'Trust in Textiles' is an independent test and certification system that ensures that all raw, semi-finished and finished textiles are processed as follows.
* Precautionary principle – prohibition of the use of certain potentially harmful substances, even if they are not yet legally prohibited.
* Absence of pesticides and chemicals that are harmful to the environment and health.
* Restriction of the lead content of the dyes used.
We also proudly announce that our partners are PETA certified. What does that mean? It means that we do not perform or commission any types of animal tests, either with ingredients finished products or in formation. Our garment is 100% vegan, so we are sure that no one has suffered any damage during the process of our clothing.
Fair Wear Foundation
As you can see by our statement at the beginning of our page, sustainable fashion its not only about protecting the environment. That's why on top of all the requirements listed above, we also ensure that our partners are members of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF).
The Fair Wear Foundation is a non-profit organisation that works with garment brands, factories, trade unions, NGOs and governments to improve working conditions for garment workers in 11 production countries across Asia, Europe and Africa. The goal is to see a world where the garment industry supports workers in realising their rights to safe, dignified, properly paid employment.
